    Product Details

In Peking opera, the Dan (旦) is the female role. The most representative Dans were Yang Guifei in “The Drunken Concubine”, Yu Ji in “Farewell my Concubine”, Mulan in “Hua Mulan”, and the White Snake in “The Legend of the White Snake”.

The Dan roles are subdivided according to age, characteristics and varying social positions and are assigned to various artistes. The roles include the elegant Zhengdan who is calm and dignified, the lively and intelligent Huadan, and the able-bodied Daomadan highly skilled in martial arts. Collectively, the Dan roles portray a woman’s life in every season.

It is likened to having a cup of white tea. As we inhale the aroma of the white tea, the delicate fragrance brings to mind postcards from our past – from being a child; to turning into a rebellious teenager; as a young adult in her first job and struggling to navigate the grown-up world; and now, maturing into the confident woman – refined, elegant and contented.

At first sip, it is light and sweet. It transitions into bittersweet but not for long. Soon after, the warmth of the tea draws us back into comfort and peace.
