In Peking opera, Jing refers to the roles with painted faces. The different facial designs and color represent the characters they play – red for good, black for brave, upright or reckless, white for treacherous and cunning, yellow for brutal and blue for wild. A few of the most representative Jing characters are Bao Zheng, Cao Cao and Dou Er Dun in “Dao Yu Ma” (Stealing the Royal Horse).
