The Snow Maiden is a well-known Russian fairy tale. She is said to be Father Frost’s helper, who helps to bless the New Year. She is depicted as a pretty girl, whose hair falls till her waist. The Snow Maiden wears a leather coat which is sometimes long, sometimes short, at times snow white and at times pale blue. She is said to be the daughter of Father Frost and Spring Fairy.
The Snow Maiden liked a farm boy but as was made of snow, she is unable to feel real love. She yearned for the company of humans. Her mother takes pity on her and gives her the ability to experience true love. The Snow Maiden fell in love, but as her heart started to experience the warmth of love, she melted and disappeared.
Oftentimes, with the ascent of technology, it feels like human touch and warmth has been diluted. The young people of today are no longer as simple and trusting when compared to previous generations.
